Hello everyone! I’m back and better than ever! I am just getting over a little sickness from the past few days, but I have recovered and so have some of the people on my squad as well. I just wanted to explain to you guys my ministry and what it looks like day to day. My team and I are working with a ministry called Timion. In greek the word Timion means precious or valued. This ministry works with kids with cerebral palsy and makes equipment for families that can’t afford it. In South Africa it’s common for parents to abandon their kids if they have a disability, so often mothers are usually left by themselves with their child. If the mother can’t take care of the child then they go to a grandparent or an aunt which can be tricky sometimes with old age. The equipment they make is all donated to these families and they have reached out to over 350 families to give equipment as well as teach them basic therapy. All the equipment is handmade with wood and they use foam as head pieces or for elbow cushions or whatever. On Thursdays we will get the opportunity to help them with whatever they need in the workshop.

Along with the equipment they make they have a beautiful vegetable garden that we get to work in. We help pull weeds, harvest vegetables to give to families or local orphanages, plant more vegetables, scoop compost, and feed and brush the donkeys! There is so much to help out with and it’s so amazing to hear their heart and vision behind everything.

Every morning we start off with some worship and prayer for the ministry with all the staff of Timion. They want to start their days off worshiping the Lord and it’s so cool that we get to be apart of that. The wisdom that we will get to learn from these people is so abundant and evident in the conversations we have already had with them. There is so much space to talk with the Lord in the garden or have a deep conversation with a teammate or one of the gardeners working with us. The Lord is so present in this ministry and it has been amazing to be apart of it.

That’s all for now! Thanks for reading! I’m excited to share some God stories that the Lord will be giving us as we work here the next two months!
